We are seeking a Project Discovery Coordinator that will work closely with the Project Discovery Program Manager on all aspects of our work with Project Discovery of Virginia, Inc. Project Discovery is a free educational outreach program aimed at dropout prevention and access to higher education to address the problem of unequal access to higher education for low-income students.
Our goal as an agency is to make a difference in the lives of those students and their families by providing an extra academic, social, and cultural boost. The Project Discovery Coordinator will:
· Recruit eligible students and volunteers within assigned school systems.
· Exhibit strong customer service skills with ability to empathize and instill confidence.
· Provide guidance and mentoring to students on secondary education choices, career exploration, technical training opportunities, cultural experiences, and the financial aid process.
· Prepare materials for workshop topics on goal setting, study skills, preparing for high school and/or college, career planning, decision making, effective communication, etc.
· Involve parents and guardians in their child’s educational planning process as well as inform them of their child’s post-secondary options and funding sources.
· Maintain confidentiality pertaining to any type of information on each student and family.
· Treat students and their families with dignity and respect.
· Display a positive, caring attitude towards students and their families.
· Be responsible for accurate caseload documentation on each student by recording all contacts, meetings and services provided on appropriate forms as well as on the designated computer software.
· Attend trainings, workshops, and in-services as required and relevant to this role.

Capital Area Partnership Uplifting People, Inc. seeks a part-time Community Services Assistant. The Community Services Assistant will perform duties as assigned, reporting to the Community Services Manager.
This role is characterized by the responsibility of assisting department staff by handling a variety of routine supportive functions. Depending on assignment, the Community Services Assistant performs liaison functions between the assigned program and the community, clients, and/or the public. Incumbents are further tasked with identifying client and/or public needs and assisting in meeting those needs by providing referrals to various available CAPUP services. This individual will:
· Establish effective lines of communication between the department, community, clients, and/or the public; provide feedback, both verbally and in writing, to appropriate professional staff members regarding the community, clients, and/or the public response to program services.
· Answer questions about services and programs that are available to individuals or refer them to the correct organization to get help.
· Track and log appropriate information (e.g., individuals contacted, services provided, participant information, verification of eligibility, and/or resources utilized).
· Schedule appointments for services and refer clients and/or the public to other agencies when appropriate.
· Coordinate and/or provide necessary transportation to clients and/or the public.
· Review register of action; track cases on a monthly basis to remind professional staff of cases needing progress reports; maintain and update files.
· Assist in coordinating community events including scheduling, outreach and logistics; maintain and update records related to participation, outcome and public feedback.
· Attends various events, meetings, conferences, and workshops, as designated, to explain policies, procedures, and requirements related to a program, to coordinate activities, and to obtain information for evaluation purposes.
· Performs related duties as assigned.

We are seeking a full-time Transportation Manager that will manage all aspects of CAPUP's Transportation services. This individual will:
· Insure that all routes are staffed by qualified, properly trained, courteous and capable drivers that are properly licensed.
· Insure that all vehicles are properly maintained, safe and reliable.
· Insure that all vehicles are properly tagged, insured and inspected per the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
· Receive transportation requests for Ride Connections clients courteously and respectfully and dispatch appropriate drivers and equipment to fulfill said requests for service.
· Maintain an up-to-date database of clients and transportation requests for all programs.
· Responsible for invoicing for services provided for all transportation services rendered.
· Responsible for driving any routes that may not have a driver available.
· Insure that daily pre-trip vehicle inspections are performed and see that any issues arising from said inspections are addressed in a timely manner while being cognizant of budget constraints.
· Responsible for preparing reports to contractors.
· Maintain databases detailing maintenance and fuel usage.
· Investigate accident and incident reports as necessary.
· Respond immediately to accident and medical emergencies.
· Interview and recommend personnel for hiring.
· Provide other services as requested by management.
· Attend staff meetings and trainings upon request.
*Must posses a valid driver's license. CDL is preferred.
